Gothamist turned my attention to a site with some beautiful photos of 1970s New York. Using Google Maps, I've tried to compare the photos side-by-side with what each scene looks like today. Some of the angles are a bit off, but I did the best I could.

According to New York Songlines, these buildings (the tall brick one right next to the Jefferson Market Library was the Women's House of Detention) were demolished three years after the photo was taken, and turned into the garden that's there today.

As you can see, Village Cigar is still there almost four decades later.

This is the exact corner where I chatted with Suze Rotolo at one in the morning about three years ago. Apparently Bob Dylan used to live in the building right next door at the time he was dating her...weird.
