I'm really interested in how longstanding brands tend to drastically change their identities over time. For instance, Abercrombie & Fitch used to sell sporting goods and equipment for explorers, and then was repositioned in the '90s as the go-to brand for promiscuous prepsters. Similarly, I didn't realize that Banana Republic started out in Laguna Beach in the '70s as hippie safari wear - until I saw this vintage shirt. Three decades later, Banana is all about fashionable yuppie clothes. Go figure.
