I wish I had seen CHOW's video on how to open a champagne bottle before New Year's Eve. We bought a bottle of Francis Ford Coppola's Sofia Sparkling Wine (named after his daughter, of course) for the occasion. I picked it because I thought the bottle was pretty and I liked Lost in Translation, which shows you how much I know about fine beverages. (Fun fact: Champagne and sparkling wine are the exact same thing, except only sparkling wine that comes from Champagne, France is allowed to be called "champagne.") Anyway, we couldn't figure out how to open it right, so Bob stood on the front steps in the cold and popped the cork, which promptly whizzed into the air, hit the portico and flew into the yard, never to be seen again. This guy does it much more efficiently, and less dangerously.
